7 Ways to Build a Personal Brand That Makes People Say, “I Want to Work With Her!”
What if the secret to a magnetic personal brand has NOTHING to do with how you look, what you post, or how perfectly you package your expertise? There's a reason some women stay in your head long after you've scrolled past their content, and it has everything to do with how they make you feel about YOURSELF. Let's talk about building that kind of brand.

Hey, my love!
Let's talk about one of my favourite things: personal branding.
Because building a business is one thing. Building a brand that people remember, connect with, and actually want to buy from? Now THAT is a whole different game.
Think about the women whose content you recognize before you even see their names. The ones whose emails you actually open. The ones who make you think, “OMG, she's in my head!”
What makes them memorable isn't necessarily a fancy website, a perfectly curated Instagram feed, or a photoshoot that costs more than your first car.
It's them.
Their personality, their opinions, their stories, the way they see the world, that little something that makes you want to stick around and hear what they have to say.
And guess what? You have that something, too!
If you're building a business around your expertise, creativity, voice, or personality, you don't need to become a walking, talking corporate brochure to be taken seriously.
You get to build a brand that feels like YOU. The real woman behind the business.
So, grab your coffee, matcha, or whatever makes you feel like the badass CEO you are, and let's get into how to build a personal brand that makes people remember you, connect with you, and want to work with you.
1. Stop trying to look like everyone else.
I know, I know. So annoyingly simple, right? But girl, it's SO tempting to look at another woman in your industry and think, “Ooh, maybe I should do what she's doing.”
Her colours, her content, her offers, her entire vibe. Before you know it, you're building a business that looks like hers instead of one that feels like YOU.
Her content is working. Her offers are selling. Her brand looks beautiful. Surely, if you borrow a little of her strategy, you'll get the same results!
Except here's the thing: you cannot build a memorable brand by trying to be a slightly different version of someone who's already out there.
READ THE AGAIN!
Take inspiration, absolutely. Learn from women you admire. But don't copy someone else's magic when you have your own.
Your experiences, your opinions, your personality, and your way of doing things are part of what makes your brand yours.
You don't need to be more like her.
You need to get more comfortable being yourself.
2. Your personality belongs in your business.
Who decided that being professional meant becoming a less interesting version of yourself?
Seriously. WHO?
You can be ambitious and feminine. Strategic and creative. Serious about your work and still have a sense of humour.
You can love spreadsheets AND poetry. You can be an expert in your field and still be figuring things out in other areas of your life.
You do not have to squeeze yourself into one neat little category to build a successful business.
Your personal brand should make room for the woman you actually are, not just the polished professional version you think people will approve of.
Because people aren't only interested in what you know.
They're interested in how you think, what you believe, and what makes your perspective different.
Your personality isn't a distraction from your business. It's part of what makes people connect with it.
So, please stop editing yourself into oblivion just to look “professional.”
The world has enough beige brands. Let's give them something with a little personality.
3. Know what you want to be known for.
Listen, my fellow multi-passionate woman. I see you.
You have a hundred interests, a million ideas, and so many things you're passionate about that choosing just ONE feels impossible.
I get it because I'm that woman, too. And naturally, my world tends to attract other creative women who don't fit neatly into one little box.
But here's where we need to get strategic.
You can be interested in twenty different things. You can have multiple talents, creative pursuits, and business ideas.
But when someone discovers your brand, they should still be able to understand what you do and why it matters.
What do you want people to come to you for? What do you help them do differently? What do you believe about your industry that shapes the way you work?
You don't need to talk about the same thing in the same way for the next twenty years. Your brand is allowed to evolve as you do.
But give people something to remember you by.
You can be multifaceted without being confusing. You can have range without making your audience work overtime to figure out what you actually do.
Your job isn't to become less interesting.
It's to make your brilliance easier to understand.
4. Share what you believe, not just what you know.
You know those posts that teach you something useful, but you forget who wrote them approximately four seconds later?
Yep. That's what happens when content shares information but gives people nothing to connect with.
Educational content can demonstrate your expertise. But your perspective is what makes that expertise personal.
Don't just share five tips for growing a business. Tell people what you've learned about building one.
Don't just explain a strategy. Explain why you believe it works, when you'd use it, and what you'd do differently.
Don't be afraid to have an opinion.
And no, you don't need to manufacture controversy or start a fight on Instagram to get attention. We're building businesses, not auditioning for reality TV.
You simply need to let people understand how you see the world.
The right people will start recognising themselves in your ideas. They'll understand your approach. They'll feel connected to the way you think.
And that connection is where trust begins. And girlfriend, do I REALLY need to give you a whole TED Talk on why trust matters in business? You already know! People buy from people they trust. Period.
People don't just want to know what you know. They want to know what it's like to see the world through your eyes.
Let them.
5. Let people get to know you.
Your audience doesn't need a minute-by-minute documentary of your entire life.
You can keep your private life private. You can have boundaries. You can decide what stays yours.
But you also don't need to hide every trace of your personality behind your professional credentials.
Share the lessons you've learned. Talk about the experiences that shaped your work. Let people see your creative process, your values, your ambitions, and the things that matter to you.
You don't have to share everything to be relatable.
You just have to share enough for people to see the human being behind the business.
Because there's a difference between being private and being invisible.
And my love, if you want people to connect with your brand, they need something to connect with.
You are allowed to be a real woman building a real business. Not a perfectly polished LinkedIn profile with a payment link.
6. Show up consistently enough to be remembered.
Let's have a little chat about consistency. Now, before you roll your eyes and go, “Oh no, consistency, ya ya, Bansi, we GET it!” Listen, I hear you, but stay with me for a second, because this is where the magic happens!
You cannot build a recognizable brand if people only hear from you when you're inspired, your website is perfect, or Mercury has finally stopped doing whatever Mercury is doing.
People need to encounter your ideas more than once.
They need to see what you stand for, understand what you offer, and get a sense of what it might be like to work with you.
And no, consistency doesn't mean posting the same recycled advice every single day until you want to throw your laptop out the window.
It means returning to the ideas, values, and conversations that matter to your brand, and finding fresh ways to communicate them.
Talk about your expertise. Share your perspective. Tell your stories. Remind people how you can help them.
You don't need to reinvent yourself every week to keep things interesting.
In fact, the more consistently you communicate what you stand for, the easier it becomes for people to remember you for it.
You can't be the woman people think of first if they keep forgetting you're there.
Show up. Keep sharing your ideas. Give people a reason to remember you.
7. Remember that you're building a business, not just an audience.
Ah, yes. The followers. The likes. The lovely little dopamine hit when a post performs well. It's fun! Enjoy it!
But let's not forget why you're here.
You're building a BUSINESS.
It's wonderful when people like your content. It's even better when the right people understand how you can help them and feel confident enough to invest in your work.
Your personal brand should make it clear who you serve, what you offer, and how people can work with you.
Talk about your services. Share the problems you solve. Explain your approach. Invite people to take the next step.
And please, don't feel awkward about selling something you genuinely believe can help someone.
You don't have to choose between being authentic and being commercially successful.
You can build genuine connections, create content that feels like you, and have a very clear intention to grow a profitable business.
In fact, those things can work beautifully together.
Because the goal isn't to become internet-famous and hope money magically appears.
The goal is to build a brand that helps the right people understand why YOU are the woman they want to work with.
That's personal branding with a purpose.
Finally, a little reminder for the woman building her brand!
What if personal branding has very little to do with making people notice YOU, and everything to do with what people discover about THEMSELVES through you?
The best personal brands don't just make people think, “She's amazing.” They make people think, “Maybe I can do that, too. Maybe I don't have to do it the way everyone else does. Maybe there's room for someone like me.”
THAT is when your brand becomes bigger than your content, your credentials, or your perfectly curated Instagram feed.
You become the woman who changes how people think, what they believe is possible, and how they see themselves.
So stop obsessing over how to make people remember you.
Give them something worth remembering about themselves. That's the kind of personal brand people don't just follow.
They carry it with them and I think that's the whole point of Personal Branding!
