From Psychology Student to Personal Branding Expert: My Career Journey
From psychology to pixels, from special education classrooms to Instagram feeds — my journey has always been about understanding people first. I traded textbooks for content calendars, discovering that the same empathy that once guided lesson plans now shapes brand stories that connect and convert.
Today, I wear many hats: strategist by day (Brixified Marketing, Surlavish Technologies), storyteller through @InsightsByAnam, and artist by heart — hand-painting phone cases and canvases at Anamix Studio. Every path I've walked has taught me the same thing: whether it's a classroom, a canvas, or a caption, real connection is everything.

I Was Just a Normal Girl — Until the Digital World Found Me
I still remember what it felt like to sit with my books, unsure of what my future even looked like. I wasn't special. I wasn't the girl everyone predicted "big things" for. I was just a normal girl, quietly studying psychology, quietly wondering if I'd ever do something that felt like mine.
Nobody tells you how loud silence can be when you don't know your own path.
I used to watch people online — building brands, sharing their work, living lives that looked so far from mine — and I'd think, that's not for someone like me. I didn't have the confidence. I didn't have the "right" background. All I had was a psychology degree, a lot of self-doubt, and a small, stubborn feeling that I wasn't done yet.
The Moment Everything Cracked Open
Change didn't arrive with fireworks. It arrived quietly, almost by accident — through a training program I almost talked myself out of joining. PSDF. Personal branding. Content strategy. Words I didn't fully understand at the time, but something in me said just try.
So I did. Scared, unsure, googling half the terms my trainers used. I sat through every session wondering if I was too late, too behind, too "not made for this."
And then something shifted.
I started noticing that everything I had learned about people — why they feel what they feel, why they trust what they trust, why they connect with one story and scroll past another — wasn't useless in this new world. It was the whole point of it. My psychology degree wasn't a wrong turn. It was quietly preparing me the entire time.
Learning to Believe I Belonged Here
There was a woman who believed in me before I believed in myself — Hina Jawad. Her guidance didn't just teach me skills; it gave me permission to stop apologizing for my "unconventional" path. She showed me that the girl who studied human behavior in a classroom could become the woman who builds brands people fall in love with.
I won't pretend it was easy. There were nights I doubted everything. There were moments I compared myself to people who seemed years ahead, and I felt embarrassingly behind. But I kept showing up. One skill at a time. One small win at a time.
From "Just a Girl" to Building Something Real
Slowly, without even realizing how far I'd come, I built a life I used to only watch from a distance:
I co-founded Brixified Marketing, turning strategy into something real.
I became a Social Media Manager at Surlavish Technologies, trusted with brand voices that weren't even mine yet felt personal.
I created Anamix Studio, painting my own hands into products people now cherish.
I built @InsightsByAnam, my own name, my own voice, no longer hiding behind who I thought I was supposed to be.
I look back at that quiet, unsure girl sometimes, and I want to hug her. She had no idea what was coming.
If You're Standing Where I Once Stood
Maybe you're reading this and something in you is aching, because you also feel stuck. Maybe you also feel too ordinary, too late, too unqualified for the life you actually want.
I need you to hear this: you are not behind. You are becoming.
Every skill you think is "useless" right now might be the exact thing that makes you unforgettable later. Every quiet, unsure season is not wasted — it's preparation. I was never chosen because I was the most confident or the most ready. I was chosen because I refused to stay silent about my own life.
If a normal girl with self-doubt and a psychology degree could rebuild her life from nothing but courage and one small step — so can you.
If this touched something in you, I'd love to hear your story in the comments. And if you're standing at your own crossroads, follow @InsightsByAnam — let's walk this next chapter together.
