Building the Future: Empowering Women Founders and Operators

The future of Africa's economy will be shaped by the people who build companies, solve complex problems, create new markets, and lead institutions. Women are already doing this work every day. Yet, despite their talent and ambition, many continue to face structural barriers that limit access to opportunity, capital, networks, and markets.

That is the problem FoundHer was created to solve.

When I founded FoundHer, I wasn't interested in building another community or hosting occasional events. The opportunity was much bigger. I believed Africa needed an ecosystem where women could access the relationships, knowledge, experiences, and platforms required to build enduring careers, successful businesses, and industry-leading organisations.

FoundHer is that ecosystem.

As Managing Partner, my role has been to bring together the people, partnerships, and platforms that make this vision possible. We've developed programmes that equip women with practical skills, created opportunities for mentorship and leadership development, and built communities where founders, operators, engineers, creatives, and athletes learn from one another while expanding their professional networks.

Our work continues to evolve.

The FoundHer Fellowship is preparing women to build and lead with confidence. The FoundHer Exchange is connecting emerging leaders across African countries, creating cross-border relationships that strengthen collaboration and expand opportunity. FoundHer Market is opening new pathways for women-owned businesses to reach customers beyond their immediate communities through digital commerce and curated pop-up experiences across multiple cities.

Each initiative addresses a different challenge. Together, they form a single ecosystem designed to help women move from potential to measurable impact.

The ambition has always extended beyond programmes.

We are building the infrastructure that enables women to discover opportunities, develop skills, access markets, form strategic partnerships, and contribute meaningfully to economic growth. Our goal is to remove friction from that journey so that talent—not circumstance—determines what is possible.

Success for FoundHer is not measured by the size of our community alone. It is reflected in the businesses that scale, the careers that accelerate, the partnerships that emerge, the investments that are unlocked, and the jobs that are created because women had access to the right ecosystem at the right time.

We envision a future where a young woman can enter FoundHer as a student, grow into an exceptional operator or founder, expand into regional markets, build a globally competitive organisation, and return to mentor those who follow.
