From Office Administration to AI Automation: My Journey of Learning, Building, and Creating Impact Through Technology
One of my proudest moments was building my first 24/7 AI Customer Service Agent for AB to Z Solar Company. The AI agent responds to customer inquiries, provides instant support, captures leads, and stores customer information for team follow-up. Seeing a solution I built create real business value was a powerful moment in my tech journey.

My name is Glory Akpan, a Computer Science graduate, Data Processing Specialist, and a passionate learner. My journey has been one of growth, curiosity, and embracing new opportunities.
After my NYSC, I had the opportunity to work with a private university as an Administrative Assistant, serving in the Office of the Vice Chancellor, Professor Celestine O. Ituen, where I Provided confidential executive support, Managed data entry, document processing, and records management with strict accuracy and confidentiality. Utilized Microsoft Word, Google Docs, and Google Sheets for documentation, reporting, and data organization. Assisted during NUC accreditation visits, coordinating travel bookings, logistics, and administrative support, also supported coordination of major university events including matriculation and convocation ceremonies.
Being in an academic environment increased my passion for learning, and at some point, I desired to grow into a lecturing career. I undertook professional development courses to prepare myself for that path, but due to academic requirements and the need for further qualifications by the NUC which I didn't have as at that, I continued building my experience in administration while working toward future growth.
While working at the university, I also partnered with Longrich Bioscience International, China, where I developed valuable skills in sales, marketing, customer relationships, and understanding people’s needs. This journey taught me something important, whether you work in a physical office, run a business, or operate online, people remain at the center of everything. Every person you support deserves care, respect, and excellent service.
In 2023, I moved into the government sector as a Data Processing Specialist, working under the Office of the State Auditor-General. My role exposed me further to data management, I review the executive calendar daily, tracking meetings and official engagements, proactively reminding senior leadership to ensure nothing is missed. Monitor official office email every morning, identifying urgent correspondence and ensuring prompt, appropriate action. Draft and send official communications including memos, formal letters, and circulars to MDAs (Ministries, Departments and Agencies). Type, produce, and publish the Annual Accountability Report and State Financial Report with accuracy and timely delivery. Designed and implemented a Zapier automation linking Google Drive with WhatsApp, streamlining document notifications and reducing team response delays. Maintain and manage the official office website, including backend administration and uploading of state accountability reports for public access. Ensure proper documentation, organization, and secure storage of all records using Google Workspace. Provide basic technical and internet support to maintain uninterrupted workflow in the office.
Over time, I realized that the world of work is changing. I wanted to transition into remote opportunities, but I understood that my experience needed to be combined with modern digital skills. I needed to learn tools that would help me transfer the skills I had built in a physical office into the global remote workspace.
That decision led me into learning in-demand IT skills. I explored IT Support tools, Google Workspace, CRM platforms, project management tools, automation, and AI. I also earned certificates in Google Technical Support and AI while continuing to build and improve my skills.
Currently, I am expanding my knowledge through an AI internship with FlyRank AI, where I continue to explore how artificial intelligence can be used to solve real problems.
One of my proudest moments was building my first 24/7 AI Customer Service Agent for AB to Z solar Company. The AI agent works 24/7, responds to customer inquiries, provides support, captures leads, and saves customer information for the team to follow up. Seeing something I built create real value was a powerful moment for me.
I have also started applying automation in my workplace by connecting tools like Google Drive and WhatsApp through Zapier, making information easier to access in one place.
Looking back, I am proud because I am no longer just studying technology, I am applying what I learned as a Computer Science graduate to solve real-life problems.
My journey is still ongoing. I believe learning never stops, and I am excited to continue growing in IT, AI, automation, and emerging technologies.
My story is a reminder that growth is always possible. With curiosity, consistency, and the willingness to learn, you can evolve, rebuild yourself, and step into new opportunities.
