Imelda E. Akurut is a Ugandan health economist and development practitioner with 18 years of experience across the humanitarian and development ecosystem. Her work has spanned the full spectrum of health systems, from medical practice and community health to health systems strengthening, health financing, and policy. She has led the scale-up of results-based financing in Uganda, supported health policy reviews across the continent, and contributed to the scale-up of digital health systems
Today, Imelda is the Steward of the Philanthropy Reform Alliance (PRA), a growing Pan-African movement reimagining how development and philanthropy are practised. Through PRA, she works to advance more decolonial, equitable and locally led approaches to aid and development; towards just partnerships, shared power and shared flourishing.
