From Food Science to DevOps: How Motherhood Redefined My Path

From food science to tech, my journey has been shaped by motherhood, reinvention, and a deep desire for flexibility and growth. I started as a virtual assistant and customer support specialist, then moved into DevOps, where I’ve continued learning, building, and growing through real projects.

My journey into tech did not begin in a computer science classroom. It began in an entirely different world — one rooted in food science and technology. For a while, that was the path I knew. But life, as it often does, introduced me to a new version of myself through motherhood.

Becoming a mother changed everything for me. It made me think more deeply about the kind of life I wanted, not just for myself but for my child too. I knew I wanted more than the constant cycle of a typical 9-to-5 and weekend rush. I wanted flexibility, purpose, and the freedom to be present while still building something meaningful.

That desire led me to begin as a virtual assistant. I trained, learned, and took on work with a determination to grow. Along the way, I also worked as a customer support specialist, balancing both roles while figuring out my next move. Those early experiences taught me discipline, communication, adaptability, and the value of showing up even when the road ahead was still unclear.

Then came an opportunity that changed everything: training as a DevOps engineer. I took it, and from that moment, my journey in tech truly began. It has been a season of continuous learning, one project after another, one lesson after another, and one step forward after another. What started as curiosity and a need for change has grown into a real passion for building, solving, and growing through technology.

I have since worked on a lot of projects, and I’m still consistently on this journey of growth, learning, and becoming. What started as curiosity and a need for change has grown into a real passion for building, solving, and growing through technology.

Today, I look back and see a journey shaped by reinvention, resilience, and courage. I did not follow a straight line into tech, but I followed the path that made sense for my life, my family, and my future. And in doing so, I found a career that keeps challenging me, stretching me, and helping me become more.

This is not just a story about changing careers. It is a story about choosing growth, embracing change, and proving that it is never too late to begin again.
